CLIENT CASE STUDY
For both New York City 1 Hotels locations (Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge), the eco-luxury hotel group, I create a hand-lettered, large-scale chalkboard installation each month that lives in the lobby and greets each guest entering the hotel.
Each board lays out the month's programming, events, and happenings at the property in a format that has to do two things at once: be immediately legible, and be visually compelling enough to hold its own in a space with a lot of foot traffic. The illustration shifts with the seasons, so each board is built from scratch, responsive to the month and mood it's meant to represent.
It's an entirely analog process for a client that is committed to sustainability. The lettering, layout, illustration, and seasonal detail all happen live on-site each month.
